Privacy Policy

Verdia is a plant identification app built to do one thing well, without collecting more about you than that requires. This page explains exactly what happens to your photos and your data when you use it.

What Verdia collects

Verdia does not require an account, and does not ask for your name, email, or location. The only information involved is what you choose to give it directly:

• Photos you take or select to identify a plant.
• The plant records you save — an image, notes, and the identification results — kept in your personal collection.

This information is stored locally on your device. Verdia has no server or database of its own, so there is nothing of yours stored anywhere except your phone.

How your photos are used

When you identify a plant, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini API for analysis — this is what actually recognizes the plant and generates the care notes you see. That request is the only time your photo leaves your device. It's used solely to produce your identification result and isn't stored by Verdia afterward.

Because this step relies on a third-party service, that request is also subject to Google's own privacy practices. You can read their policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Data storage and retention

Your saved plant collection lives in local storage on your device for as long as the app is installed. Editing, favoriting, or deleting a plant updates that local record immediately. Uninstalling Verdia, or clearing its app data, permanently removes everything — there is no backup copy on our end to restore from.

No ads, no analytics, no tracking

Verdia doesn't include advertising SDKs, analytics trackers, or any code that reports your activity back to us. We don't know how often you use the app, what you've scanned, or anything else about your usage.

Children's privacy

Verdia is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. Since the app doesn't collect personal information from any user in the first place, this mainly reflects that no age-specific data collection occurs.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a revised effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
